Salford Cathedral Music Foundation exists to provide opportunities to develop the musical potential of the children, young people, and adults of Salford, from all backgrounds, through active participation in the Cathedral’s sung liturgies.
Led by our Director of Music, Alex Patterson, the Music Foundation was established in September 2020 with a grass-roots approach through the creation of our Children’s Choir.
A restructuring of our Cathedral Choir and Choral Scholarships, as well as a grant from the Cathedral Music Trust, has seen the musical life of the Cathedral transformed. We now also boast a thriving Girls’ Choir and a specific group for boys with changing voices, our Cambiata Boys’ Choir, providing progression routes for all our young people to develop their potential through music.
We need your support as we aspire to be responsible custodians of this choral heritage. Your help could go towards transport costs, ordering a new set of music for the choir, cassocks for our Children’s Choir, supporting a Choral Scholarship, covering costs for a major concert or CD recording, commissioning a new choral work, and much more.
